I'm still currently on a crochet kick and my Crater Cowl pattern is my latest creation. The holes in the design kept reminding me of all the mysterious craters that are recently being found throughout Siberia. The green shade of the cowl also brought to mind the old saying "the moon is made of green cheese" and as we all know, the moon is riddled with craters.
This cowl is crocheted in the round from the bottom up. If you know how to work dc (double crochet) stitches and make them into shell clusters you'll have no problem making it. It looks a bit more complicated than what it is (I promise!).
I used a skein of Misti Alpaca Tonos Worsted yarn in the lovely neon green shade Grinch Green. I love this yarn! It's so unbelievably soft and the color has subtle tonal variations throughout. I'm planning on making this cowl for myself in gray, however this bright pop of color might be just what my mostly black, navy and gray wardrobe need. It certainly would be striking to say the least.
The pattern is available on Ravelry here.
