Introducing: Verdurous- A Chunky, Lacy, Leafy Hat

10:32:00 PM

I'm still on a bulky weight yarn kick this month and have always been intrigued by lace knitting in yarn weights other than lace. I guess I'm weird like that. I wanted to design a hat that was simple but that had an interesting panel of lace.

I knit the Verdurous hat from Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride Bulky yarn in the color Kiwi. It's very soft, slightly fuzzy and the green is very vibrant. It's worked in the round on size 10 circular needles to eliminate the need for sewing it up at the end. I have to admit that I'm loving this technique more and more though I'm still partial to using my straight needles when it comes to scarves and shawls. I guess some old habits die hard.

You can also either leave the ribbed edge of the hat down for the look of a slouchy beanie or fold it up if you want a shorter beanie look.
