Introducing: Appian Way, A Textured Chunky Cowl

Chunky cowls seem to be all the rage these days... and bulky or chunky weight yarns. It's been a while since I've used any yarn over a Worsted weight so I was really excited to get my hands on some thicker yarn and see what I could do with it. I had ordered a couple of skeins of Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride Bulky yarn over the holidays. Craftsy was having a huge sale and so I figured why not. They didn't have a lot of colors to choose from so I settled on this Oatmeal shade and another green one called Kiwi. I'll be posting a cool hat I made from that very soon.

This cowl is knit in the round on a size 10 circular needle. The design itself has a lot of texture, twists, turns and even eyelets. I named it after the Appian Way road of the ancient Roman Empire since the bumps reminded me of cobblestones. The pattern itself is a lot easier than it looks. Just the use of circulars eliminates the need for sewing the cowl up in the final step. It's seamless and a rather quick knit since it uses Bulky yarn. Double yay!
