The Music of the Night

This is my latest creation, the Noctis shawl. Mwahahaha!! ;) Perhaps it was the deep, rich, dark colors that reminded me of the night. Or maybe it was the rows of eyelets that resembled stars. Perhaps the swirly pattern of the lacy cables evoked galaxies or even constellations. Or maybe it's simply the fact that Halloween is just around the corner and I've been watching a bit too much Ancient Aliens on tv. ;)

Who knows for certain where inspiration truly comes from. What I do know for a fact is that Madelinetosh DK yarn is simply amazing to work with! Just look at how rich the colors are and they're hand dyed to boot. I simply cannot wait to go to my LYS and get my hands on some more. I think my next project (perhaps a hat for me) will be made from the colorway Terrarium. There's just something about aqua paired with brown. All of the shades are equally stunning and the quality is sturdy yet amazingly soft. You can certainly tell that your projects will last a long time and continue to look and feel great.

I used 2 skeins of the colorway Black Currant to make the shawl shown in the pics. It's a really fun project that looks complicated but really isn't. For one, you don't need a cable holder or DPN (double point needle) to make the cables. However, you do need to know how to do yarn overs and psso's (pass slip stitch over).

The pattern is available on Ravelry.com here.
